Bear With Me (pun intended!) is inspired by the great point and click classics like Monkey Island and Grim Fandango, that we we still remember dearly. These games were played among generations, and although it´s hard to plan such greatness for a game, Bear With Me seeks to bring you the same quirky humor, strange adventures and noir fun of familiar titles, set in a black and white "horror" atmosphere.

  • Classic point´n´click mechanic, explore the game with movement and interaction,

  • Play both Amber and her hunter Red giving you the ability to control the non-linear story and make choices on your own.

Full Release

Bear With Me basic release will be available for PC and Mac. The release will hopefully be distributed on Steam.

Potential Platforms

We would love to see Bear With Me on as many platforms as possible. We´ll make decisions about those versions based upon the campaign success, general interest and specific opportunities.

You play Amber, a 10 year old girl. In the middle of a dark and stormy night strange sounds wake you up. You soon discover that your 12 year old brother, Flint, has gone missing. To get to the bottom of what is going on you seek out the help of an experienced private eye, Ted E. Bear, who happens to be your fluffy toy.

While finding the first clues you soon discover that something very strange is going on in the house. There is a Red presence which does not seem friendly at all. The plot thickens while you are given the opportunity to control both Amber and Red and thus shape the hunter-hunted scenario.

The main characters of this noir "horror" mystery are Amber - a 10 year old girl who is really smart for her age, Ted. E Bear - a private detective who just happens to be Amber´s fluffy toy and Red - a spooky presence even we don´t know much about.

 

 

 

Classic point´n´click mechanics

All of the exploration, movement and interaction is performed with classic point&click mechanics (or point&tap if we reach the tablet stretch goals). You can move the characters through the rooms of the house and interact with any item you see, moving the story forward while solving the mysterious case.

Hundreds of interactive items to explore

The mysterious case unfolds in Amber's house in which every room is full of objects you can interact with. A lot of them tell you more about Amber and her brother through her sarcastic comments. We are considering an integrated optional hint system to remove the need of aimless clicking (tapping).

Dialogues and interrogations full of puns

Starting with our sarcastic characters commenting and interacting with their environment, through funny dialogues filled with famous gaming and movie quotes all the way to Ted E.´s cute but unsuccessful interrogation methods - Bear With Me is full of, to quote a fan, "Bears, puns and noire mystery"

Collect and combine items to solve the case

Find and collect the clues and evidence scattered through out their big home which will lead you to reveal more of this "horror" story and tell you what´s really happening with Amber´s brother Flint.

One of the features we love the most about Bear With Me is the players ability to control both the hero and the villain, Amber and her hunter Red. This gives you a great deal of choice in the unfolding narrative, granting you the power to shape the bizarre events in your own taste.

Hello there black & white enthusiasts.

First of all thank you all for your support and all the kind words.

Visual Refreshments...

This is our first update for „Bear With Me“ and a really important one, as we are almost ready for releasing a playable demo. We are very aware that this might be a deal breaker for many as the published demo will not be without flaws. What we are hoping to accomplish with it is to finally bring to those of you who can look past minor technical flaws (we’re still sorting out) a piece of the atmosphere and ambiance of what, we hope, will be the strongest assets of “Bear With Me”.

We are actively listening to your comments and suggestions on various msg boards and social media sites and are trying to fix and/or implement the things you consider important.

In the light of all this we present you the new Ted E. Bear who is now more in the same style as the new Amber, hope you like him as much as we do :)

Further this week we introduced an antagonist and another playable character of “Bear With Me” – RED (Also known as the Red man, the Red guy and Mr. Green (?))

Unfortunately you won’t be able to play as RED in the demo, but we are hoping he will be available later on so you can try him out as he plays an important part of the story.

Music/Sound

We consider music a very powerful tool in storytelling and sort of an emotional catalyst and we approach it with those things in mind. Music and sound design are very important assets of any adventure game and our approach to creating the same or similar atmosphere is no different. Hopefully you will enjoy those elements as much as we enjoyed making them. The style of music and atmosphere in “Bear With Me” ranges from scary, noire-ish, playful to straight down creepy. Many talented artists in this field have given us an endless source of inspiration and we hope we can make the sound of “Bear With Me” as recognizable and awesome as some of those artists have done with their projects.

Art Style

Why black and white? Why not? ;)

Drawing inspiration from many, many old timey horror movies from the pioneering days of entertainment we decided on black and white style for the emotional response we get while watching those early “scary” movies. Back in the days people were shocked and generally scared by those images of “unbelievable” monsters devoid of color. But even today, watching the same movies, you get a kind of sentimental feeling and consider them as kind of funny. It was the simpler times and we all kind of miss it… hope you won’t miss all the Easter eggs and movie references scattered through the game.

Film Noire is another great inspiration we used in making of “Bear With Me” and Noire is best described through black and white, it was the genre made with no colors in mind :) As in every single Noire film out there, all the elements are here. We have the damsel seemingly in distress, the wise-cracking, down on his luck detective, the bad guy, the missing person whose disappearance triggers the events and of course – The rain.

We know not everything in “Bear With Me” is original and unique, but again, what is? It is almost impossible to create something truly original in these times and we are very aware of this. We are not aiming to bring you the most original black and white, point and click adventure game with a subtle hint of red ever, but instead we are hoping to combine all of the collected experience and inspiration from all of those movies, books, comic books, games etc. we used to and still love.
