Timothy vs the Aliens is a 3D platformer, adventure and action video game where we play the role of a gangster named Timothy, who lives in a black & white period and fights against the full-coloured aliens that have invaded his city.
Timothy vs the Aliens is an open-world game that combines platforms, puzzles and a lot of action in a big city that can be freely explored and is full of characters, stories and adventures.
Timothy vs the Aliens is being developed for PlayStation 4 and PC. It will be released for PlayStation 4 by December 2017 and a Kickstarter campaign will start in early 2018 to help finish the PC version.
Timothy vs the Aliens takes place in Little Fish City, which is an open and large city that can be freely explored and hides many secrets and secondary missions. The city is full of platforms like buildings under construction, cranes, scaffolding or building materials, so going through it won’t be just walking from one point to another. We will also be able to explore some buildings of the city and enter other areas like the labyrinthine city sewers and the alien spaceships.
The game combines exploring the city with many moments of action in ambushes by aliens and enemy gangsters, and also with lots of puzzles to find keys to open doors, help other characters, find items and access blocked or hidden places. We want to combine action, puzzles and platforms to achieve a dynamic rhythm.
Timothy will always be well-equipped to fight against the aliens, so we will be able to use different powerful weapons like a machine gun, a shotgun, a magnum, a revolver, grenades, and alien weapons.
We will be able to drive every of the cars that appear in the game, so the whole city can also by explored by car.
A large number of human and alien characters will appear in the game. These characters will give rise to conflicts and secondary missions. For example, the Hot Dog Guy has lost all his hot dogs while he was escaping from the aliens, and we will have to help him finding them.
As you go through the city, you will find money scattered all around and hidden in some objects, which you will have to break by shooting at them. The collected money will be added to Timothy's wallet and can be used to buy items from the Gunrunner.
It all started when Timothy was a child living in a fishing village. One day, he was abducted by a group of aliens that were part of an organization that tried to save planets. After telling him that an invasion would come to Earth in the future to devour everything, they gave him the only tool that could save the planet. So that the tool would go unnoticed, these aliens had converted it into an ordinary human object: a deck of cards. Timothy was thrown back to Earth, and he just continued with his pranks.
Some years after, Timothy has become a very influential gangster and, thanks to his fruitful business, his small village is now a large city where gangs and corruption are the norm. However, Timothy has completely forgotten about what the “planet savers” had told him and has taken no care at all of the cards; he has actually misused them in the most surreal ways and now he only keeps the Ace of Hearts. But it comes the day when the voracious aliens touch down and Timothy has to find the way to stop the invasion.
- Open-world platform game in an open and large city.
- 6 different powerful weapons.
- Main character’ special power: the Ace of Hearts allows Timothy to move in hyperspeed mode.
- Exploring the city by car.
- 8 human characters and 5 types on aliens.
- Plenty of secondary missions and collectable items.
- Special attention to the control of the main character.
- Feeling like a gangster movie.
- Strong artistic contrast. Everything from Earth is in black & white, and everything from the aliens’ world is in colour.
- Jokes and surprising comic situations tending towards black humour.
Timothy is the main character of the game. He is the kind of gangster that people idyllically adored back in the 20s/30s. He is very well-known in the city and has great influence on the people, as they admire him for being a tough guy that always gets what he wants. His business is not completely legal and his methods are not very diplomatic, but he is always willing to help the citizens with their daily problems, what also helps him to have a privileged position.
In the game there will be other characters that will give rise to conflicts and additional missions.
- Elizabeth: She is the Gandfather’s daughter. She is a woman with a lot of personality that runs her own business.
- The Hot Dog Guy: He is Timothy’s childhood friend and now he is the owner of a hot dog cart, but he has lost all his hot dogs while he was escaping from the aliens.
- The Grandfather: He is Timothy’s rival. He looks like a friendly old man but runs a whole gang in the city.
- The Gunrunner: He provides Timothy with ammunition and other items that the gangster uses for his operations, and will also give Timothy a helping hand at some points in the story.
- The Thugs: They are the Grandfather’s henchmen and will always be stirring up trouble.
- The Activists: They are the aliens that gave Timothy the tool to save the planet and will also help him during this quest.
The aliens have come to Earth looking for food and other resources. There are different races: some of them are more strategist and others just eat whatever walking thing that passes by.
The environments and items of the game are inspired by the big American cities in the 1920s and 1930s. However, we do not intend to exactly depict that period, rather we want the game to give the feeling of the gangster movies of that time, that is why we decided to make everything black & white. The characters are also inspired by the trends and concepts of that period, including how Martians would look like. But the aliens are not in black & white because they don’t actually belong to the gangster world, they come from another planet and they would probably have developed “full colour” technology. Most of the game time will be spent in Little Fish City. It is a large city that has evolved from a tiny fishing village in very few years, partly due to the especially lucky business of Timothy and partly because of the increase of corruption in the town. This fast growth can be seen in the fact that there are many buildings under construction, which create intricate platform areas with cranes, scaffolding, building materials, locked doors, hidden places, etc. The influence of the gangsters in the city can be noted in that the Grandfather owns the largest plot of land, that the harbour is barely used for fishing and that the cemetery has become kind of big.
This whole city can be freely explored, from the bottom to the tallest building. And we will also get inside some building such as the Grandfather’s building, Elizabeth’s restaurant and Timothy’s building.
We will also have to go down to the labyrinthine city sewers, where we will find other creatures apart from aliens, “including” our old friend, The Gunrunner.
We will finally manage to get into the leading spacecraft of the aliens. This will be a contrasting colourful place packed with aliens and hiding a terrifying monster.

The concept of Timothy vs the Aliens started 2 years ago and has tremendously grown thanks to the enriching feedback we have receiving during this time. The development phase started 8 months ago and now we are in the final stage of development. So now we need your feedback and support more than ever.
We are also going to start a Kickstarter campaign very soon to get support to finish the PC version and include other goals for additional content such as new missions, weapons, enemies and more. We believe Collective can help us create a better campaign on Kickstarter and make it successful.
